Puerto School is a small teachers' cooperative designed to give personal attention to students interested in learning Spanish. We offer small group and private lessons for students of all ages and all levels, from the very beginnner to the most advanced.

Our school is convienently located on a bus route less than a 5 minute walk from and overlooking the world famous beach, Playa Zicatela (Zee-cah-tey-la), commonly known as the Mexican Pipline. This location allows students to enjoy the pleasant beach atmosphere, be near the center of Puerto Escondido's activities and have quick and easy access to and from all the different parts of Puerto Escondido.

Puerto Escondido Language School is based on the belief that a strong linguistic foundation is created through the simultaneous development of the four pillars of language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Instructors integrate grammar into this context and help students to put their new Spanish language skills to use immediately. We have found that using this method makes learning Spanish rapid, easy and fun.

Spanish Lessons

We are a small language institute dedicated to providing the highest quality of educational experience and individualized programs of study for each of our students instead of attempting to maximize profits by forming large groups of diverse learners. Therefore, we only form groups with students who have very similar levels, language acquisition rates, learning styles and are studying the same number of hours per day. As such, we can't guarantee that there will be other students at your level willing to share classes. However, if group lessons are not available, private classes are always available and visa versa. Also, with the students’ learning in mind, we try to keep our group class sizes to 6 or less even at our busiest times and most of the year groups end up being 3 or less students.

Classes can start any day of the week and you can study Spanish as many or as few hours a week as you would like, however class sessions must be a minimum of two hours long. You can create your own flexible class schedule to suit your learning needs, or choose from one of our packages.

If you would prefer, our teachers can travel to your hotel or residence in Puerto Escondido for lessons for a small additional fee. Online lessons can also be arranged if you are unable to travel to Puerto Escondido, would like to either begin classes before you arrive or would like to continue to learn with our brilliant teachers after you leave.

Puerto School offers a variety of one week, two week, three week, month long and longer programs. All programs can be taken with or without a homestay and be combined or modified to meet individual student's needs.

Packages are a one time per visit option, so be sure to include all the services you want in your package. If you would like to modify your program of stay and/or studies after your arrival, that can be done at our regular (non-package) pricing.

One Week Programs

Option 1:
-2 hours of Spanish classes per day for 5 days
-One surf lesson or 1 week-long surf board rental plus 3 additional hours of Spanish lessons or 7 additional hours of Spanish lessons or 5 hours of cooking classes* or 4 hours of salsa dance lessons or one half day excursion plus 2 additional hours of Spanish lessons.
