	Entryway to Instituto de Lenguajes Puerto Escondido		Instituto de Lenguajes Puerto Escondido is a small teachers' cooperative designed to give personal attention to students interested in learning Spanish. We offer small group and private lessons for students of all ages and all levels, from the very beginnner to the most advanced. Our school is convienently located on a bus route less than a 5 minute walk from and overlooking the world famous beach, Playa Zicatela (Zee-cah-tey-la), commonly known as the Mexican Pipline. This location allows students to enjoy the pleasant beach atmosphere, be near the center of Puerto Escondido's activities and have quick and easy access to and from all the different parts of Puerto Escondido. 	Puerto Escondido Language School is based on the belief that a strong linguistic foundation is created through the simultaneous development of the four pillars of language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Instructors integrate grammar into this context and help students to put their new Spanish language skills to use immediately. We have found that using this method makes learning Spanish rapid, easy and fun. If you would like to immerse yourself more profoundly in the Spanish language and Mexican culture, community service options or homestays with local families can be arranged. If a homestay does not suit your needs, we also offer student apartments and on site bungalows located on the school grounds for $15-$30 a night. There are also plenty of hotel and other accommodations in Puerto Escondido ranging form $30-$250 a night. 	Directions to the school
	We are across the road from Bodega Cemento Cruz Azul		Instituto de Lenguajes Puerto Escondido is located just meters above and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Bungalows Zicatela and the world famous surfing beach, Playa Zicatela, the Mexican Pipeline. Our Spanish language school is on the ocean side of the coastal highway in front of "La Bodega de Cemento Cruz Azul", a big white building with a domed corrugated metal roof and a blue cross painted on it (see picture to the left). Most locals and taxi drivers know where "Cemento Cruz Azul" is. Directly across the street you will find signs for Instituto de Lenguajes Puerto Escondido and a set of stairs that lead to the beach. Another more general point of reference for Instituto de Lenguajes Puerto Escondido is the military base, "el Batallón" (marked as "Zona Militar" in the map below). Flown above the base is a huge Mexican flag that is visible from most parts of Puerto Escondido (see the map below and the photo to the left). The flag is a good point of reference when walking or traveling around Puerto Escondido.
	If you're on Playa Zicatela, you can walk to the institute from the beach in less than 5 minutes. Just take the walkway that separates Bungalows Zicatela from Casa Baylon/Hotel Aro Iris and it will bring you right to the Spanish language school.

	Workshops and seminars Optional workshops in salsa dancing, Oaxacan style cooking, local artesanry and surfing are available. Please click here for our "Surfing Services" page for more information on surfing lessons, surfing trips and board rentals. These workshops, taught entirely in Spanish (except for surfing which can be taught in either Spanish or English), help to immerse students in the language within a context-rich, low-pressure environment. They reinforce language acquisition and make learning fun. Since we are a small language institute we can't guarantee that there will be other students at the time of you visit with whom to share workshops. However, private workshops are always available. *Workshops in surfing cost $25 per hour for the first person and $10 an hour per additional person. Seminars Do you need to speak Spanish in your profession? Tell us what your goals are and allow us to customize and gear a program suited to your personal needs. Classes geared specifically to professionals from various occupations cost $75 U.S. per person per week for 2 hours of instruction a day (minimum of three people to a class). 	Community Volunteering
	Volunteer time at our local orphanage		Volunteer your time! Volunteer opportunities with the local schools, medical clinics, orphanage, animal rescue and environmental groups can be arranged. Volunteering provides a good opportunity to interact with the community and learn Spanish through hands-on activities. El Instituto charges a one time set up fee of $20 U.S. for arranging community services. *There is a minimum 2 week stay for volunteering at the orphanage. Our mission Instituto de lenguajes Puerto Escondido also offers classes in English as a Foreign Language. These classes are offered at very reasonable rates so that they are accessible to the community. Eventually we would like to get all students, both Spanish and English speakers, working hand in hand volunteering their services to the community.
